summary: Here.
quick rundown: Prudence is a former kept woman who is acting as Marguerite's closest 'friend' and 'confidante', someone who helps by running errands, takes clothes and things off Marguerite's hands that she no longer needs or uses, sends messages to lovers and other contacts, etc. Aside from her arrangement with Marguerite, she has tried her luck as an actress but failed in that endeavour and now she owns a fashion boutique that doesn't earn her anything of note. After Marguerite's death, she goes bankrupt, managing to beg some thousand francs out of Armand before they part ways for good. She is a cold, calculating woman where every relation comes down to money, profit and debt.
